Health insurance

I am seriously considering retirement in the Philippines and I will definitely need health insurance. I need to know if medical insurance is available for US Expats, cost, coverage and anything that can point me in the right direction.
I thank you in advance for your help!

If you are a veteran you may consider Tri-care coverage.

My wife and I have Phil health.  The cost for us both is about 2400 Pesos per year, though the coverage payout is also low in most cases.

A quote to another expat for under age 60 was:
$155 per month as the cheapest for a 60 year old male, with a P500,000 annual limit and P300 deductible.

I received the following quote from Cigna insurance for coverage in the Phil.
Please find attached information our on core major medical option we spoke about. It was the Silver option that we spoke about with a $1500 deductible.
Monthly cost $253.59
The policy will cover you worldwide excluding the USA.

Contacting a couple of companies and asking for coverage options based on your needs might be a good place to start. Ask also for a list of hospitals in the Philippines that accept their coverage.

One thing to remember is you are not in the USA and things are different. If you are hospitalized you will need someone by your side to assist you (family member or friend). They will have to purchase your prescription meds and bring them to you as well as simple things like toiletries etc.

Hope this is of some help and I am sure other expats here have their own experiences to offer you.

TeeJay
