Should I DIY getting my parent's lost US passport?

seluzmeu

I am a US citizen living here in the US.  My parent is 83 yr old also US citizen.  Without laying out anything more in this forum,  any can recommend an Immigration lawyer in the Philippines that can provide support or advice to help me get my parent's lost passport?   Preferably around Angeles City or Zambales.   Please help!  Thank you.

Your first sentence throws me off.

(1) Are you living in the USA or Philippines?

(2) Your 83 year old parent lives in the Angeles/Zambales area?

So what I gather is you are in the US and your parent is in the Philippines who has lost their passport?

Hi, how can an immigration lawyer help in this case? If you have lost your passport you need to report this to the US embassy/consulate in Manila to get a new one. To apply for a new passport you need to show up there in person.

If the passport was taken by the immigration/police/NBI and a case is pending an immigration lawyer might not be able to help you. You might need a defense attorney in criminal cases.

Thanks Andy, I appreciate your input.

In case your parent needs/wants to travel back to the US she will need a passport. However, if she needs it to extend the visa, she can also overstay the visa. It is not very likely that a 83 old gets deported who stayed in the Philippines for many years. Or did she enter as a tourist?

I think you can go online and get a new passport no problem they will deliver it right to your door the service that they use over there is AIR 21 they charge a small fee the only problem I see is getting an entry stamp in a lost passport but if they are a duel citizen I'm sure there is a record of their arrival

Why do you want to waste money on an Immigration lawyer to cancel a passport and get a new one?

If you lose your U.S. passport in the Philippines, immediately report it online to the U.S. Department of State or contact the U.S. Embassy in Manila at (+63) 2 5301-2000. You must then schedule an appointment at the Embassy in Manila or the Consular Agency in Cebu for a replacement or emergency travel document.
