depends on where r u coming from, and how long u gonna be here in bangalore..

I'm coming from Canada and I'll be in Bangalore for two years or more. I'll be visiting other parts of Karnataka too.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Nokia brand serves most o the Indians though there are many other options. Airtel is best service provider(with poor customer care) afaik.

          welcome to karnataka.
          Lot of brands to choose from, but I believe Nokia,samsung phones are most popular. If you have a laptop u shld get it. Note however that there r many shops here to buy branded laptops.

         Where do u plan to stay in bangalore.

At first I'll be staying in a town north of the city and visiting Bangalore. When I know the residential areas better I'll moving later. How much are notebook computers locally? Do many cafes and bars have wi fi?

      Bangalore north is nice emerging place.
      ecent notebook costs around 40000 rupees.
      Most upscale cafe and resturants have wifi.

      Additional info: If you are into IT bussiness, Bangalore south, east wld be ideal. Traffic is high in bangalore so its better to find a place close to ur work place.
