Visa to enter the country?

Hello-

I will be traveling to Uganda soon for an adoption. I will be living one year there. The internet says one must apply for a Visa  beforehand and have it in hand to enter the country. My adoption agency says you can obtain a Visa at the airport upon entry.  Can anyone enlighten me? If one must obtain it FIRST (via internet) then how does one do 'Visa runs' when the Visa expires after 3 months? Please advise, thanks!!! Most countries just issue the Visa upon arrival. But I don't want to get stuck without.

From my time in Africa, you will need to get a visa before you arrive.
The online system is available for this.

There are multiple entry visas available. Additional documentation is needed for these visas. Check this site for information.  https://uganda.visahq.com

You could also contact the US Embassy in Uganda https://ug.usembassy.gov
Thank you!
Hey Cathleen

I am Ugandan. In case you need help , can assist in any way you want once you get here.
Regards.
Although in theory all Ugandan tourist visas must be applied for in advance online – and paid for online since May 2017 – you can still apply in person at Entebbe Airport.

I have written extensively about this on my blog Diary of a Muzungu. See comments too.
