Malawi Business Visit Permit caps at 90 days — need 20 more

Hi all,

I'm doing a 90-day volunteer placement with an NGO at Dzaleka refugee camp, arriving on a Business Visit Permit. My understanding is I'll get a 30-day Business Visit Permit on arrival, extendable to a max of 90 days total.

After my placement ends, I would love to travel around the country for an extra ~20 days before heading home.

I'm trying to figure out what the best option would be:

1. Is the business visit permit strictly capped at 90 days or does anybody know if there are ways to extend it beyond that
2. Has anyone applied for a Temporary Residence Permit for reasons other than work (e.g. just wanting to stay longer to travel)?
3. Does anybody have experience with a border run? Did this actually work to reset the 90 day limit?
4. Are there any other options I'm missing right now?
