Bringing prescription meds over as a tourist

You should never mix different medicines in the same bottle - they can react with each other and either nullify the effects of the medicine or worse, cause an adverse reaction. It varies from type to type.

Better to get a "pill box", where different medications can be kept separately in a small container.

Thank you, Sandman.  But what about getting the medicine in here?

I am not sure it is a huge problem to bring in meds.  As for the bottles and the doctor’s note, I am sure the guys at the airport are not going to know the difference or care.  If the meds aren't "mind altering" meaning Valium, Prozac etc you should be able to get equivalent meds here the pharmacies dispense meds without prescription except for the mind altering meds (don't know what else to call them).  So I would go ahead and bring them in, the Libyans should be fairly tolerant of medicine that are necessary for individual use.

If you're worried about being getting your meds through the airport, I'm pretty sure airport security doesn't care. Unless you're bringing in massive quantities, like a suitcase full of pills or something.

When I travel into Libya I always bring in medications for myself and husband (refills) -- all prescribed.   I take Prozak (helps me cope with Libya- LOL), and I have never had any problems whatsoever.

Let's just say it my little secret for coping with just about everything that appears on this board for discussion. :blink

Yeah. Without their government-subsidized, mandatory Prozac god knows what the Libyan population would do. Probably go bananas and tear every building in Libya down brick by brick because of their inability to cope

I bring in over-the-counter medicines, anti-biotics, herbal/ayurvedic medicines - anything I think we may need for the next year in Tripoli (without prescriptions), but no one has questioned us till now. As long as everything is packaged & labelled, I don't think there should be a problem, especially if you have a prescription.
