weekend trips to Malta

malta is a great weekend place to recharge your energies... there is a daily flight with Airmalta and their office is in Burj Tripoli. Enjoy

Malta is a brilliant place to jet to for the weekend - know Airmalta have daily flights and quite a reliable little airline, though delays are not mainly their fault out of a messed up airport like Tripoli.
Lots of places to visit while there, everything within reach as it's a small place, great nightlife if you're looking for that, great food (always check tripadvisor.com), great hotel offers during the off peak seasons,  as well as brilliant transport with their new Arriva bus system replacing the trash they had before.

As what we do when there.. actually depends on what you like.. but if you like history, it rivals any major European city.

Could be and assume air malta do it, but try to do the trip by yourself and see what's better. Use Tripadvisor.com to check hotel reviews, and there is a nifty feature where you are given all the sites selling that particular hotel.

I use the following and find great deals sometimes even on 5 star hotels.

trivago.com also compares hotel prices at one go without you having to sift through all the sites yourself.

I know it's not always possible, but if you buy an air ticket today for say, January 2014, you usually get it half the price!

For a weekend trip, the best area to stay in Malta is St Julians/Sliema area..avoid a place called Paceville like the plague.. if you have longer say a week, I do suggest an overnight or 2 night stop over on the island of Gozo.. simply charming..again buses are brilliant and some great restaurants in Xlendi.. and oh.. for that ie where to eat, tripadvisor.com is the ultimate bible and you will never go wrong.

Great information .. thanks!  I always like a bit of both on a vacation ... beaches, nature and snorkeling - but also seeing historic sites.

I've mainly traveled to Mexico, Cuba and several Caribbean islands - always preferred the all inclusive stays  - just eat, drink all you wish with no worries.. then travel.  I assume Malta is different, though, eh?

YES.. for sure it is - the concept of all inclusive is not really worthwhile in Malta as it's such as small place, you are bound to find much better quality and cheaper down the road or just a bus ride away. In Malta you're not far away from anywhere. Part of the fun is in discovering places or just head where the locals go.
