The problem is our English sense of humour, its what keeps us going, I have lived in Canada for 16 years and I love the Canadians but only certain countries get us... We use our humour for our sanity. We like to laugh and sometimes we are not politically correct but we like to laugh at everyone including ourselves. None is meant to be offensive. I am moving to Libya in a few weeks and I am going to need my English humour to get through it(four kids, two cats). Lovely country, lovely locals somewhat nutty exsistence..long live Ricky Gervais..."are you having a laff?" Yes dammit we are English and we are having a laff!

Well one thing I do 'hate' and it is nothing at all to do with Libyans is ex-pat partys, just back from a mates, had one friend collapse through drink, split up a fight (I was there as security), then leave only to find on the way home that the same person I should have knocked out (I am too soft) started a fight after I left, oh aye he wasn't Libyan or British, but Maltese. No ex-pat sh1t for me in the future, at least you know where you stand with Libyans, some expats

Hi all,
I have not been around for a while,,, due to heavy work and an unexpected business trip to Egypt.

regarding this subject, expatlibyan raised, I believe that everyone is free to express his point of view. However, we can not generalise. There are well-educated civilised Libyan people.

no doubt, there are so many bad manners among the Libyans, the driving is crazy, I am not to blame the people only. I am to blame the government, media and the education sector because they are the key to build the better Libya and help Libyan people modernise.
e.g the government to put a system like the points system in the UK and police enforcement body to get those tw@ts off behind the wheels.

I think, as Libyans, we should do our bits, we should talk and advise our friends relatives and colleagues about changing to the better.

Mr. Expatlibyan, just talking here would not help our country improve. Start today, do one thing to help Libya towards a better future. Pick up a litter and drop it in the dustbin. give way to people crossing the road, give way to other drivers, thank other drivers gave you the way, teach children to respect elders. do help and participate in mass beach cleaning campaigns.

8 out of every ten Libyans I met in the 2 months I've been here suck major a$$. lousiest attitude of the century award goes to these powerfully sour-faced libyans.

You are right, everyone is entitled to his opinion, however we supposed not to spread hatred and feud in such helpful and decent forum.

He generalised, and over-exaggerated in most of his views.

I am Libyan, I admit there are loads of bad stuff, but to tag the Libyans with these characters is unfair.

I have been Living in Libya since I was born, visited so many countries, European, Asian and African but I will never generalise. If I was conned or robbed in Egypt I wouldn't say all Egyptians are thieves. I was miss treated in the UK I wouldn't say all the British are raciest or rough.

well i know libya pretty does suck in apperance but give it a few years .im libyan and i know that libyan attitudes are quite annoying but thats just what makes us us and im pretty proud off it
especially after the revolution that made us known world wide for our bravery and i know some of us dont really have the best manners but watcha gonna do if your not libyan you wont understand it and if your not libyan and you dont like it THEN GET THE HELL OUTA LIBYA
cause im proud of em and theres nothin u can do to change us
tripoli is ugly but it wasnt always that way it used to be the most beautiful city on the Mediterranean and gaddafi made it this bad but it will get better i promise

Lolx the other day I was driving in rain to enjoy the weather. Pulled aside to enjoy the waves.. Parked completely in my space and all of sudden a AVECO taxi bummped into me from the side.. It took some horns to make him pull over.I stepped out of the car and knocked on his window. He was aware but still trying to pretend what its all about and wont even open the window.. and then his hand signs told me to get lost
