Cell Phones in Libya

Hi all! I´ve been reading some threads about cell phones and I still haven´t figured it out if I bring my cell phone (Nokia 5800) free (no company limited), can I just buy the chip in Libya? I read both answers on old threads. Can anyone tell me if this is possible?

Yes dear, you can use your Nokia 5800 mobile in Libya.

just make sure your cell phone not locked ,
as you know some cell phone work on one network , and if you want it to work in Libya you have to make sure it not locked

does the Apple Iphone work there as it would in the US (Itunes, Apps, etc)?
