Signature generator

Hi everybody,

I quickly programmed a signature generator the other day, you'll find it here:
https://www.expat.com/signatureGenerator/signature.php

With this little tool, you can show us your route with flags :)

Please note it's only a prototype, I'll improve it little by little. I'd like to add new arrows for example. A few flags might be missing, and you might notice other problems, if you do so, please drop me an email or use the contact form at the bottom left of your screen.

Hope you'll like it,

Julien

I wish I could use! But no more than 400 characters allowed in the signature box... :'(
In which box? the result one? aren't the characters smaller? Thank you!
I tried to change the 7 flags into 5, but still. Either the signature box is too small or the code is huge, it is said no more than 400 characters.
Hmm... rotten luck...
Try to cut and paste the code below in your profile > personal > signature ;)

InfoLes signatures ne peuvent pas faire plus de 400 caractères.
Je vais respirer, sinon je vais frapper Wally (le PC), le pauvre... :")
Ok I didn't realize the problem was there sorry I'll arrange this right now. Thanks for your patience :)
One of the good things about being an African is that we have all the patience in the world ;)
Thanks!
The limit is 600 characters now... Please let me know if it's working ;)
Wanna laugh? 0:)
It's not... :|
Sorry there is a mistake in my code I'll have to reprogram the signature generator :/
like :)

You don't relley need the height and width declarations as well - saves some characters in your code.
I don't understand a thing in here... :"(
sorry - I was talking geek language :)

Here you go:

CubaAngolaPortugalSouth AfricaFrance

This should do the trick :D ( copy & paste in your signature..)

It doesn't... :(
Going to cry now for a minute...
If this one doesn't work, I'm going to cry  :D

Code:

Hmm it's difficult to copy I see.. I'll email te code to put in your signature to you within the next 3 mintues :)

Here's how it will look:

Oh! Wonderful! Thank you so very much! :D
You're welcome :)  One little error though. in the part for the Angola flag you missed the dot (.) between blog and com.  When you correct that, it's perfect :D
Actually, I saw the blogcom but didn't want to touch and thought it would be fixed by itself... Ehm... That's the African method: everything gets fixed by Providence. 16 years (out of 24) abroad and I didn't change that... :")
Thanks again for your help!!
Hmm.. I checked the 'sent mail' and the dot is there.. Somebodey 'ate' it between PR and France :)
Thanks a lot Gary for your help.

I'll rewrite the program this evening, with BBcode instead of html ;)
My pleasure :)
This is a test with BBcode instead of HTML:

It seems to be working now :)
Testing mine...
Huh? What happened there?
I think it's because of the space in "dominican republic", I'll sort this out right now.

Hmmm it looks that the resolution of the flags is not very good. I'll have to sort this out as soon as possible.

Thanks for testing Chiri :)
Thanks! The flag shows up now, but as you said, the resolution is poor.
Any ideas about mine, Julien? One of the flags is missing.
Oops Sinbad I'll arrange that right now.

Chiri, I'll arrange the flags resolution when I'll be back at home ... with a real ADSL connection. I am writing from Africa and the connection is very, very slow here (but I enjoy other things!)
Thanks Julien! I was looking enviously at everyone else's flags and now I have my own!
south korean flag is missing!

Added

I've also improve the resolution of few flags

Good idea, but I think it'll have to be HD before anyone will be able to read what's in the middle of the Saudi flag! :-)
Ok i tried again, and it seems that south korean flag is still not displaying?
Should be korea-south.gif instead of korea, south.gif

Folks: I'm a writer who has left the NY Times after many years. As a former expat, working and living in London, Paris and Rio as well as LA, New York, Miami and Washinton, I think I know the drills and thrills of periodic family and and houehold upheaval. Now I'm writing a book about others who, because of their jobs, live in that way--people who have already moved three or four times, within the US and abroad, because of their jobs. I'd love to hear from families in similar circumstances whether currently in the US or abroad. Sound me out in an email perhaps, and we can take it from there. Thank you.
Welcome on board pekilb,

you should have  posted your presentation in the "new members" forum  ...   Do not hesitate to do it!

Did you have a look the the Expat.com directory? You'll find lots of testimonies there :top:
