I have been in a long distance relationship / marriage now for 15 years. My wife and family are in Laos and I work around the world.

I sometimes do not get home for 4 to 6 months. Our relationship is strong.

It can only work if there is a time limit on the time apart. If you know that it has an end then it can be survived. Otherwise, I'd say no.

I still don't find it ideal to have a long distance relationship. What do you get from distance relationship? Can anyone share? And what do you think of long distance relationship?. . . I think what I really want to bring up are two thoughts long distance relationship and what the supposed healthy relationship should really be. This is my suggested brought up thought and a short quick sidetrack. For the reason is that The two doesn't seem to go well all the time.

its not easy to say...
i have one relationship before.. the man always beside me everytime..but after two years we already broke up..
he affaired and lied..so i think the man more near with me, more not understand me..

and now i find one man at another country..he is from west but we can understand each other..i think its work if i still keep contact..he more know me than my family..

every woman not same.. so i think there is woman will wait u for a long distance..relationship just need communication, trusting and the final destination.
more close woman not sure she is the best..
but maybe far woman is good..we never know..
but just try it..

Interesting story. Thanks for sharing, Nellin Javellin. It goes to prove that there are still others who prefer this kind of relationship because of their previous experiences, disappointments and hurts.

It just makes me wonder that what if the 2 who has been in a long distance relationship have decided to make a knot or in other terms get married, raise a family, and live a couple's life under one roof - Wait for it - . . . Learned that it is not actually the same kind of fiery attraction, love and affection which they both used to have back then when they were living in two worlds apart and no way of knowing and have proof of what the other person's life is like at your back.

I would like to clear out that I don't want to lead the solution of "living in" as the answer to completely know what the soon to be partner's life is like. For the reason is that stats and studies prove those who do so end up filing for a divorce or called it quits after going through the experiment stage (as experts and counselors called it). This kind of stage actually breaks churches as the pastors' say. This one is actually like science where the idea of marrying as a sacred holy gift is ruled out. I believe that it becomes more sacred than solution and learned past experiences when two understand each others' mistakes and hurts and end up supporting one another with love, care and encouragement. Like two working as one in spirit to glorify the one who created marriage itself.

I do believe in it...My boyfriend and i have been into a three year long distance affair it was quite long but we did survived. We love, respect and faithful to each other, yet there was some arguments and problems but we still manage to surpassed it. Just this July 2012 we got married and we are together as strong as can be, hoping to build a simple and complete family... When it comes to love no mountains and oceans can separates a pure love...

Emman, If ever you found someone who will become your partner aside from your mom and specially God please do not forget to tell your first loves as mentioned above who this person is. Count your accountability partners too and those whom you find counsel with for added help. I just like to share an advice that was shared to me and also learned in the long run. For in this way nothing is kept in secret and under guidance. Happy waiting and searching i guess! hehe

it works,.. but a lot of sacrifices lots of effort to fall in love with d same person everyday,.. to keep it alive and real,. no easier road in here distance time different social life make u fall apart , trust is the biggest issue , no one can know where it success or it is fail, no one know until betrayal happen, but when is said,.. when is love will never hurt,..

sorry for the metaphor girls , that is sortta guy thing , long distance relationship is like leaving your base on red alert or generals & going out , your base is gonna be outrun sooner or later , it's how well you placed your defences to delay that, so yes you can have long distance relationship , but not for long , the best way to do that is to have a plan & talk about it openly so that the waiting time isn't as hard as waiting for no purpose

No sweetie , that isn't wat i meant . i meant that long distance relations can work for sometime but not forever . that u & your partner need to have it detailed . like time table on when are u gonna meet & end up together , other wise the feeling that you're jst waiting for nothing or wasting your time will creep on you & u'd break up evantualy

For us it worked! I was from South Africa, my husband from Germany, we met in Hong Kong, and travelled to each others country twice a year and once a year to a different country (we met though work), we have now been together for 4 years (married for 2 years) and i still get butterflies in my tummy when ever I know he is on the way home

We saw each other in person every 2-3 months and spoke on Skype every night till early hours of the morning :d
