American Social Worker wanting to work in New Zealand

Snowyegret

Hi, I'm Pam, I'm trying to find ways to move to New Zealand.  I'm a social worker with a Master's in Psychology.  I don't necessarily want citizenship but I don't know if they have unlimited work visas.  I fell in love with NZ when I went there for a month on vacation.  One problem is I'm 49 and I've been told I'm too old. Anyone with advice on how I can accomplish my goal would be welcomed.

Thanks, I can probably find the list on the NZ immigration website or so I hear.  How is the cost of living now?  It's always been high but with the economy everywhere else in the world I was hoping the cost of housing there might have come down some. I hear property is relatively cheap in Christ Church since the earthquake.

Snowy,
I am moving to NZ this summer and from what I have found out thus far you have until the age of 56 to apply for permanent residency. I am cutting it close as I just turned 55. It is my understanding that they go by some sort of points system when considering applicants for residency. You get points based on occupation, age ect. I am still in the process of checking this out so I might have misunderstood but that is how I understand it to be at this point and time.
