Hi,

I have been searcing the web and found a few international Schools. But we would really like to hear from you what Your recommodations are?
We are not looking in Bangkok, though we would like to live outside the big city.

We are also appriciative for any other advice on living in Thailand.

To let you know a little bit more about us;
We are a Norwegian Family of 5, 2 adult and 3 children, we are seeking information about living for a longer periode in Thailand.
We are looking at both a long time out and also considering buying a small resort or guesthouse in the contrey.
Our criterias are good schooling for the children and a safe and relaxing enviromente, prefrebly with easy axcess to an int. airport.

Hope to hear from you:)

PS! if you have tips on blogs etc. please let us know :)

Hello MissMay3,

While waiting for the feedback of other members, I advise you to browse our International schools in Thailand section of our business directory.

Thank you.

The first thing you need to determine is which type of visa you are eligible that will allow you to stay long term.

I'm not sure which international school would be best but the cost of these schools are expensive.

A business is great to think about but as a foreigner you can only open in Thai company name and law allows foreigners to own  a max of 49 percent of that company.

Good morning, MissMay. We would naturally recommend our own school, and we do have around a dozen Norwegian students currently enrolled. However, based on the criteria you specify, it sounds as if you would want a quieter locale. That doesn't really fit us since we're in the city center!

A good resource to check would be the International Schools Association of Thailand (ISAT) website, which serves as a comprehensive directory of all of its member schools (over 100 in total). Another quick way to check which schools are close to either Don Muang or Suvarnabhumi Airports is to do a Google search for "international schools in Bangkok" and select "Maps". Suvarnabhumi is on the eastern side of the city, while Don Muang is on the northern side. Both have several schools in the immediate vicinity.

Another choice you will need to make is the type of curriculum you'd like. We are one of only three full International Baccalaureate (IB) schools in Bangkok, which is a fully international curriculum. You will also have a large number of British schools to choose from, and a somewhat smaller number of American schools or other curricula. ISAT will again serve as a good resource, and by cross-checking the locations of schools you're interested in through Google Maps, you may be able to narrow down your choices.

Finally, looking further outside Thailand, many of the other cities such as Chiang Mai, Phuket and Pattaya have a growing number of options as well. If you plan to be outside of Bangkok, you can search for options in each of these areas through ISAT as well.

Best of luck!
