Job scam detected : MAZ International

I have been offered a position at the school. Presently I am Saudi Arabia and want to get out of here. Can anyone tell about what they have heard or experienced regarding the MAZ International School? Good and Bad.

If you do a search on Maz there are lots of threads about this school.

I read some that date back to 2012 then there is a gap and then a couple of posts from 2014. I am an ESL teacher. Do you know the school? Are you a teacher? ESL teacher?

Thanks

Do you mean on this site? Are there threads on this site?

Yes, there was a discussion a couple of weeks ago

https://www.expat.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=449114

but there are others. Just do a search at the top of the lists of forum threads.

I have been offered a 12 month contract to work for Maz international school. I have a Bachelor's degree and two TEFL certificates. The conditions offered to me were quite good, salary way much higher than I would make in my country. I know that this has been discussed before, but I would like to hear about those horror stories and all other advantages and disadvantages related to this particular school (in more detail).

I answered your other post but you neglected to add you are not a qualified teacher (for schools only as a support teacher) which says it all really.

In TEFL 7k is rock bottom in Malaysia. MOE says that all teachers should be qualified teachers - not TEFL - so how they can get a work permit is a mystery........

If I said how I will get moderated and  :dumbom:

But I am a qualified teacher. I have Bachelor's degree in English (teaching English as a second language), plus one year experience, plus two TEFL certificates.

Thank you for your input, but I decided that I will decline their offer. Too many bad reviews of the school, and it seems that some information I was given simply does not add up.

No you are not unless it is a BEd with proper teacher training (ie is a specialised teacher training course). You need proper teacher certification per MOE. For a school job a TEFL is not accepted. Indian teacher training for example is accepted. A TEFL isn't. You can legally work in English Centres like the British Council. Pay there is 7.5k approx.

Yes, Bachelor of education, specialising in teaching English as a second language (theoretical subjects dealing with methodology of teaching and practical class observations, actual teaching practice as a part of exams, etc.). Anyway, as I have already said, I am not going to accept the offer, not because of the salary (more than 15k), but because there are too many negative reviews of the school. But, thank you, your input has been very helpful!   :thanks:

i was offered a 12 month contract as well, with very good compensation.  Instruction I was given yesterday is to get in touch with this traveling agency :  Anjang Global Traveling Agency Co. Ltd...can anyone tell where is this located. I googled it and tried all means of tools but i cant find any... merry88 - where you already instructed to get in touch with this agency?

Anyone considering the latest vacancies should look at where Melaka is located. It is not in Kuala Lumpur.

I was instructed to get in touch with an agency specifically recommended by the school, they did not say the exact name. As i previously said, I declined the offer, and noc_1976, you should thoroughly check everything. My recommendation is for you to call the school (phone numbers from the MAZ's website) and ask around, because the numbers I was given in e-mails and the ones on the site do not match, and I read on teacher's forum at dave's esl cafe, that a person who had been also offered a job by the school, called the school and they had no idea about any of it.

Yes there are a lot of job scams surrounding teaching positions. But usually you are asked to pay some money for a security check, work permit, accommodation etc.

Good evening. Please note that the real email address of MAZ International School is [email protected] (from their official website). Scammers use [email protected]. As you can see the difference is just in one letter (they substitute a for q in international). Be careful! Good luck!

Thank you Roman86.

I am in the middle of the same process with the same school and have similar doubts.
Same email issue with the "q" in the email instead of an "a"

I emailed the official email on the actual website asking if they have positions available. Waiting to hear back from them. If they don't have any ESL positions available then I guess I have my answer of whether or not this is a scam.
Although, all the signs so far point to it being one.

It's a Scam, check the email address. Were you dealing with Mr. Inderjit Singh Sekhon
Principal
MAZ International School?

Check the email it was sent from, the real MAZ International email is [email protected] the Scam email is maz_internqtional.yahoo.com

I didn't get as far as checking the travel agency, which I'm sure will require you to pay?
Good luck
