carlos-sousa

I'm a Canadian citizen who emigrated from Portugal to Canada over 50 years ago.

I will be retiring in the next year and I'm looking for advice from other Canadian expats in a similar situation. For instance: Am I eligible to declare residence in Portugal, can I benefit from a taxation perspective on my Pension income, capital gains, withholding taxation in the US by changing my residence from Canada to Portugal, best health care options in Portugal, real estate agents in the Faro area you would recommend, Lawyers and accountants who have experience with Canadian/Portuguese citizens.

Background:
- Plan to spend 6 months in Canada, 5 months in Portugal and 1 month in the US
- Planning on purchasing a home in Portugal
- Have stocks with some paying Dividends
- I Have a residence in Canada. My whole family lives in Canada
- Have real estate in Florida
- Have a private Pension, RRSPs as well as a Government Pension
