I feel here for outsiders there are no entertainment like maals, Movie halls, good parks. I feel everything is costly here.People having interest for boozing will have  a tough time here.

Hi all,
There are some excellent places to eat in tripoli, night life does tend to be guys hanging around in cafes drinking tea, so if your a die hard clubber forget it. You need to shop around food prices to tend to vary when they see the western face, but if you like to shop with the locals, there is a great market in Rasheed street in libya

are there movie theatres?  how about dvd rentals?

geoffroberts13

There are lots of dvd rental places, I have never tried any though, but you can get a motorised sat system for approx 200 diners about £130, then you can subscribe to Showtime( The Arab World version of Sky) or get a moody card for 35 diners then when they change the code, its approx 5 diners to get it updated. I think there are Picture places, but I would suspect the films to be in Arabic, I have never been.
Hope this helps
Cheers
Geoff

yep, thanks.  It does help.  I guess we'll fly to Malta to see the next installment of Twilight in November. My daughter and I are actually delaying our departure for Libya until 1. school's out; 2. camp is over; and 3. Harry Potter VI opens.
