Here it is: Malta classifieds!

I have a room to share from the 26 august, if you still need one. It's in sliema and the rent is 300 euro. I send you an email for more details.

Hi,

I personally have my doubts about someone wanting to come to Malta to study German in exchange for Russian (see post from 5.th August) and just leaving their e-mail on the forum.

There was no response to previous posts so I think Vici is just fishing for e-mail addresses. But I would be happy if proven wrong.

Cheers
Ricky

Hi all,

there has been no response on this thread!

I just want to warn against replying per PM to posts like ' I'm Victoria from Moscow'. This counts for certain other countries too !

There is a nasty criminal scene centered in Paceville and giving away any personal details could get you into major trouble here in Malta. The Maltese authorities do not care about these networks or maybe even profit from them so be very careful passing out any personal information.

Kind regards and stay safe!

This is a bit worrying.  I was not aware of this - what form does this criminality take and what should we be on the lookout for?

Hi Nicky,

just to mention a few things:

Gangs of youths roaming the streets at night mugging people , sometimes with knives, to rob you or just to have 'fun'.

Pickpockets operate all over Paceville , also inside clubs, stealing wallets, cameras and whatever they can get. Often these seem to be organized and from certain countries.

Never leave your drink unattended and make sure nobody can add something to your drink.

Never be on your own as a young female, never leave your friends not even to buy something on your own. Stay with your friends when in Paceville.

The general level of behaviour is obviously quite appaling as can be seen from the following two incidents just from todays newspaper.

So just be very cautious if you visit Paceville especially after midnight.

And if you do need help from the police don't count on them arriving anytime soon. Here's another alarming report:

Thanks very much Ricky.  This is very worrying.  I know that this kind of thing happens everywhere but somehow one doesn't imagine it happening here.

(I detect a rather strong xenophobic theme running through the responses to the Times links that you posted!)
