COVID-19 and expatriation in the Philippines

1'll start...Many of us here are about to face an "ICE AGE" head on!...I've basically hunkered down in my 3rd class province with no chance whatsoever of getting home, due to (Lockdown/Curfew). I just hope to stay alive with sufficient food, drink,love,sxx,security and being able to communicate wif my buddies on expat.com (philippines).

Total lockdown , annoying and disturbing. Aside of dictatorship, in my province we have prohibition as well, liquor ban lol

I'm trying to understand all this panic because their health care system is really terrible and whole Philippines is so overcrowded so it does not help as well in current situation.  But also 2000 of 100 million people infected, seems the most dumb pandemic declared in history.

I guess it is time for relocation after few years in the Philippines after all of this is done.

Well dont go back to Croatia ! Nearly 1000 cases for 4 millions residents ... in Philippines 2000 cases for 109 millions of residents...

You hate dictatorship because you are into freedom that you used to right? Freedom and rights to leave your house even during lock down, freedom and rights to get infected and freedom and right to spread the COVID 19 if you are a carrier.. Leave the Philippines.

The country does not hold anyone who love to come to the country then complain. It was your will to come to the Philippines in the first place so leave, evaporate like how you did it from your country.

You have not even have rights to complain what the country is afford for the medical facilities because you were not there from the start to pay taxes to build hospitals. You want to come in a clean place but landed in messy.. just pack up and leave.

Don't you knew that Filipinos are scattering all over the Globe and are not complaining wherever they are, wherever they live or visited in the other countries? Because they knew that they were not the tax payer to build those infrastructures because they knew that they are  just like visitors or new comers that does not have any previous contribution to the new host country..

Love to comment on Prince_Phecocepalic"s message but he's probably off on one of his month long tours so he can comment expertly on there ways of life! If you can't find Filipino's who complain about there new homeland in USA! Try talking to all of them working in the Casino's of Southern CA. Especially in National City! Now that I have a Ph.d I hang my MA in the bathroom in case i run out of paper!

Everyone complains. It's human nature. And it is human nature to sometimes pretend that you are above complaining. You cannot fool old people. We see through posers. We been there.

Agreed : OFW's will also have to face the "ICE AGE" just like all of us!

Complaining about complainers makes that person a complainer.  Kinda like the people who don't hate nothin' at all except hatred.

Yup I'm guilty too : I just received a courtesy call from my embassy today & I "complained" about me not being able to get hold of any extra cash handouts, as I was being a responsible citizen in quarantining myself here!!!

All my degrees are nothing but wall paper! Never got asked at a job interview about college or degrees and the fact that they say they want a copy of your transcripts is phoney as they rarely arrive! And always late! Just another piece of paper in a file nobody looks at except once a year when HR does a performance evaluation and they glance through to be sure it's there but never read!

you have to get the right degree if you want the white glove treatment

If you fear going through withdrawal buy plenty of mouthwash, most is about 40 proof.

That is why they have banned liquor sales in some locales.

I´m the nicest guy when I´m drunk. That´s why all my friends donate in abundance when they want something from me. And of course I ask them right away what do they want from me to be so generous!

I do not like the mean stupid ones. There have been some near here. They chopped a man's head off a stones throw away.

Alcohol could be the least of our problems....If things remain as they are....I'm afraid of social unrest/looting may start....I have noticed a few more beggars knocking at front gates asking for help/piso but have never seen them around before (not local residents).

If you were to visit my country you will find many a senior citizen >70 at Frontline Counters in our McDonalds/KFC's and at Local Food courts (clearing/cleaning tables!)
I have always shown them my utmost respect/patience when dealing with them!

in some places they work for syndicates

Some mouthwashes can cause liver or kidney damage. Especially in the amounts that an alcoholic is likely to drink. In the worst case, death. Another option is to go to the hospital. Not really any good options.

I live in Cagayan De Oro and although all the bars are closed there are plenty of places to buy beer and spirits to drink at home, I bought 3 cases of san miguel as soon as the lockdown began and will buy more when I run out.

There's always your friendly "Kerosene" & its cheap 30p/ltr!!

Yep. Warm water and salt is better than commercial mouthwash. Alcoholic beverage, on the other hand, had been around for centuries. They cannot be wrong.

In addition warm water and salt are not addictive.  Opium and cocaine have also been around for centuries.

This must be the cure.

Tuba (coconut palm wine) must be selling hot right now.
Be careful about 'some' local gin, they can blind you.

Tuba was delicious. But there has been  problems with hospitalizations upon drinking lambanog a derivative of palm tree wine. That´s probably the "local gin" you´re referring to with a high concentration of methyl alcohol that can lead to blindness.
