New members of the Czech Republic forum, introduce yourselves here - 2020

Hi all,

Newbie on the Czech Republic forum? Don't know how to start?

This thread is for you ;)

We invite you to introduce yourself on this topic, to share with us your expat story if you are already living in the country, or to tell us more on your expat projects in Czech Republic if you are planning to move there.

It will enable us to help you better but above all to wish you a warm welcome.

Welcome on board!

Hi all and thanks for the welcome Julien.

I will be moving to Czechia by the end of the year (hopefully sooner), so I thought it a good idea to speak to others who have already done the journey.

Particularly interested in stories from other members who have a Czech spouse while I would be coming from a non-EU country.

Look forward to interacting.
Ryan

Hello friends..

Hello everyone,
Being new in here, I just wanted to send you all a wishful hope that this current storm we are all living though serves as a reminder of our common humanity and that it helps us to re-prioritise what's truly matters in other people's working and personal lives.
Best regards,
Andrew

Hello expats in Prague,

Austrian, I've been living here for 13 years, had a little guesthouse that dies due to the pandemic, and now I'm trying to give the expat communities here deep insights into the city's history and culture. I'm organising tours and small meetings called "Coffee, Cake&Kafka" for lectures and discussions about famous people and the numerous great personalities that have been forgotten by history. One of my focuses is Jewish history.

Would like to meet you some time!

All the best
Guenther

Hi all,

I've recently joined because I am looking for a job in the Czech Republic.

I'm in my final year of electronic engineering. I've befriended a few Czech exchange students over the years and they've always been very proud of their home, so I'd love to get a taste for myself.

Thanks to all of you who have posted helpful info. With a bit of luck, maybe I can do the same next year.

Kind regards

Hello,

Where was your guest house? we are looking at moving and opening a guest house/apartments in 2022 - would you have any advice? any locations that you believe could be good?

I wish you well with your new venture.

Nick

Hello Nick,

I could tell you lots of things, but for this we'd need a personal meeting or Skype.

At the moment we have massive overcapacities in accommodation/hospitality services here. Prague was spoilt by overtourism, and now the sector is struggling to survive. We had a unique concept but only 7 rooms - so less than 80% occupancy wouldn't work.

Are you considering Prague?

Kind regards

Guenther
