Saw your post yesterday, but sorry, was just a bit too lazy to answer right away.

Why did I pick Py... I didn't, I was a minor and it was my Dad that decided Py it was gonna be, and I will thank him till the day I die for having brought me here.

As for learning Spanish, one thing I remember from back then was that after we where about 2 years here my Dad bought a TV.Only for local channels no sat. nothing. It was there for me that I really learned Spanish, especially every time I saw a movie that I've seen before in English and knew what they where talking about...Having by that time learned some words at-least it was something like 2 + 2 = 4 for me. Only in the end my final sum maybe equalled 3,8 or 4,3   but I speak it and happy with the way I'm speaking it.I'm only really sorry that I never really learned Guarani.

Hi redwing,
In my case Paraguay kind of picked me...that is, my my is Paraguaya....learning the language...my spanish is ok, but guarani I think is going to be next to impossible for me!

Hi there,

PY chose me because my husband is Paraguayan and the language, well I already spoke it before meeting my husband, since I studies languages.

Guarani is also on my list, but it's really difficult.  My kids are picking it up quite fast though, especially my daughter.

Hi all,

PY chose me also, thru my spouse who is Paraguayan.  We've visited every year for many years now and finally decided to try to make an "early retirement" happen later this year.  My language skills are woefully inadequate, as my 5 year old speaks better Spanish than I.  But I've learned over the years that total immersion is the only way to teach old dogs new tricks, so we'll see how that goes.
