Hello,
I am trying to apply to get a new Bulgarian passport from the Bulgarian embassy in London. In the online application form they want you to fill in your parents ID details. The problem is I'm not in touch with my father so I was wondering if anyone knows if it's really necessary to fill the details in or I can leave it blank and I won't have a problem

I wouldn't have thought it necessary for a renewal, but they are almost certainly required if it's the first application; I suggest you contact the Bulgarian Embassy and ask them; their contact details are available from this link.
