Living abroad - being burned out

Too much stress or not enough sleep can lead to illness and fatigue. When the body and the mind are not getting enough rest, we need to rest or get help by relaxing.

When living abroad, not being "at Home" surrounded by friends and family it is much harder to deal with challenges. This can lead to fatigue and many other issues all the way to depression. How do we usually deal with this? Seeing a doctor to get some pills? It will not necessary do the trick. Relaxation and finding inner balance is the key factor. Find a group in your new environment to join. Meditation, Yoga etc.
Another way of finding inner balance is a regular Reiki treatment, which is relaxing, effortless and just to melt your emotions. It is so energizing that one can handle the daily challenges much better with a more positive approach. Try it, wherever you are there you should be able to find a good practitioner.

I love how everyone's experiences are different. We find it way less stressful being away from our (very large) family and we have a good social group here, so that helps, as well. There are many causes of stress in the expat life trying to deal with doctors, repairmen, service providers etc.

All your recommendations are excellent. Never underestimate the value of being out in nature, listening to a stream, wandering the mountain paths or soaking in the unique quiet of the forest either.

You've brought up a great point of discussion and I look forward to hearing about other peoples' experiences as well.
