Extending 30 day visa

Hi we are a couple of 70 yr old Britis here on the 30 day visa but returning in Sept on the Over 55 2 yr visa. Now here for 6 weeks thinking Overstayed payment would be similar to Myanmar etc 3$ a day it's not, ridiculously high so rather than go to Colombo does anybody know if we can extend the 30 day in Kandy, tried on line got nowhere. Don't want to go back to Colombo. Thanks Annie

Annie, overstaying your visa in third world countries is not the smartest of things to do, there are many countries in which you could easily be jailed.

I understand your age, but you seem to be aware that you are overstaying, without even inquiring into the penalties first?

Anyway, extending a 30 day visa at the immigration department in Colombo is fairly straight-forward in most cases, and does not cost that much.

It's not US $ 3 a day .....more of like Rupees 15000. 00 ,last time I accidentally stayed over and paid nearly RS 18000 at the Airport. Check with directly with visa office. It's better to be safe than sorry.
