I'm hoping to visit Panama in July. From everything I have read, it is very inviting. I also find that, apparently, one does need Spanish, although I was told you didn't. I, too, am a single female wanting to spend my retirement years in a warm, tranquil setting with lots of friends, good conversation, and lots of laughs. I have two cats that I refer to as "the boys" and have learned that it will take some effort to bring them with me, but they are my family and I wouldn't think of leaving them behind if I move to Panama. I'm told there are online work-at-home jobs available in Panama as well, so I can supplement my income if I so choose without leaving home and work my own hours. Since I'm a night person, that suits me just fine. Looking forward to visiting both David and Boquete (sp? sorry) and wherever else my journey may take me.

Hi Lindsey, I'll be going to David in 2 weeks. Single female semi-retired. I might continue working with my company AirPropel Charters .com. Just checked out Punta Burica. Looks interesting and not far from David. So I could day trip over there and check it out when I arrive in Panama.-2 weeks! Thanks for pointing this out to me.

Hi, Lindsey - I'm a single female and I've lived in the highlands of Panama (Volcan) for over 10 years. Volcan is on the other side of the volcano from Boquete (yes, you spelled it right). Go to http://forums.delphiforums.com/panamaexpats and ask your questions. We have a member who lives in David and she is very helpful.

Good for you that you will bring your cats! I didn't have any pets at the time I moved to Panama, but nine years ago I started a low-cost spay/neuter program in my town. So far we've sterilized almost 3,000 dogs and cats and the clinics have made a tremendous positive impact. http://spaypanama-chiriqui.org. I've also rescued numerous sick/wounded/emaciated/orphaned strays. I currently have 16 dogs.

I would like that. However, I have to have major surgery, probably in April, so I'm not sure I will be able to make my trip in July as I had hoped. I will keep your information and stay in touch, though, for when I can. I look forward to visiting. Thanks!
