Cost of Living in Durban

It would be interesting to exchange on the cost of life in Durban, so that future expats in Durban can make a budget!

For a start, we thing about the cost of:

- accomodation (appartment, or house)
- water and electricity
- public transport (metro, bus or taxi)
- monthly household shopping
- average price for bread, butter, milk, eggs, kg of meat...
- medical insurance
- visit to the house doctor
- school fees (specify which school)
- petrol
- average price of a good menu in a traditional restaurant
- a beer or a coffee in a bar or pub
- a cinema ticket

and of course, if you think I forgot an important point, just add it up!

I am planning to relocate to Durban from Mumbai , India. We are family of four and my kids will be going to school also. I want to know is salary of 10000R is enough for us when company is taking care of  Furnished Apartment , Car , Petrol , School Fee ,Insurance etc

Cost of living in Durban is pretty reasonable, and as far as you food household utilities,transport entertainment prices are average. I live in Pietermaritzburg its an hour from Durban but spen most of my weekends in Durban because of the ocean.
