How to find a job in Taiwan

Hi,

Are you an expat living in Taiwan? Let's share your experience!

What is the best way to find a job in Taiwan?

The Internet? Please tell us which are the most useful / effective websites for job seekers in Taiwan.

Recruitment agencies? Have you got their contact?

Newspapers? Which ones?

organizations?

Thanks in advance for your participation

Hi,

I've come across to many recruitment agencies here in Taiwan. I realized that they had more leads or resources  than other means. Just like many other cities or regions, most of job vacancies were filled before they went public thru agencies or someone who knows his way around.

I would be able to help anyone who would like to get a job in Taipei or Taiwan area. If you really like working and living in Taiwan.

It'sworth checking out the job sections of two English language papers: The Taipei Times and China Post.

Hi My name is Ted Lien.

If you are a native English speaker with Bachelor degree, I can help you to find a job in Taiwan. FREE service!

I set up a website with a list of ways to go about finding a job in Taiwan. I just returned to Taiwan as a qualified teacher and had to really attack the job search from many angles. Here is what worked for me.

Hi Jeppy,

I am typing from UK at this time but on critical path to join my wife in Yong he city at the end of August, where we have our home. I am relocating permanent and of course need to find a vacancy. I am intrigued by your style and comments, they somehow feel sensible. Maybe? you can offer me some sound advice. I am experienced in Taiwan but never worked. This is the start of a new life.

I hope to hear from you.
David

Does anyone know where to find Non-Teaching Jobs, other than Tealit, and 104? I'm planning on moving to Taiwan, but I can't teach seeing as I'm not from one of the six countries. My mandarin level is ok, and I'm still learning. Or should I go with a recruitment agency?

I've found quite quickly a job by posting my resume online (104 & 1111 mostly), some qualification are more likely to interest recruiters (they need marketing people!) and mandarin is now a must infortunately...

Your mandarin must be very good then!

You can also try yes123.com.tw website

Anyway, there are few job opportunities you might be interested in you really want to settle down in Taiwan. It is not teaching job:

- Marketing Supervisor
- Mechanical Engineer
- Electronic Engineer
- Compliance Engineer
- Quality Assurance Manager

All above jobs required at least basic Mandarin (speaking, listening, writing and reading).

I know this is an older post but I would like to offer some UPDATED advice. I've been teaching here 2.5 years and have met a lot of new teachers as well. I also lived in Vietnam and taught there.

In my opinion... (for teaching positions)

If you have experience (and meet the requirements) you will benefit more by arriving on a 2 month visa (must apply before) and then go to the schools listed on tealit.org or go to the places populated by expats and asking for advice.

if you don't have experience, but the right attitude - the franchise cram schools hire directly from the internet. Big ones include Kojen, Hess, Shane, and Global Village. Average pay for those is 550-600NT 1 hour.

If you are looking for other positions a company called trend micro is always looking for technical writers in software.. google it.

I think recruiters in Taiwan are still a good bet and still have a better reputation than other countries.

when u come here don't tell immigration you are looking for a job. Also, if you are here on a 30 day visa - and if you don't find a job within the first 7 days or so... you will have to do a visa run to hong kong...

tealit.org is a site you can use before you arrive but most of my fellow teachers tell me that they get few replys...

I can go anytime once I have found something.

Hi guys

My name is Tino. I used to live and study Mandarin  in Taiwan for 6 years. Since i have passed the limit of the years that u are allowed to study Chinese i was forced to find other way to stay and started looking for a job. Unfortunately my time was short (cuz i only had 1 month visitor visa that time)  diIdnt manage to find any job , except teaching (of course illegally) which couldnt help to stay. I want to go back and live in Taiwan but i need some help in search of a job. If someone knows where i can refer myself to find a job and get hired legally please let me know. Btw i hold a Bachelor Degree in Agriculture Science , and i have great Mandarin spoken skills. Im willing to work anything, not necessarily related to my college education.

Thanks a lot

Many Taiwan companies have been interested in me to work for them, but since I only have a USA passport, it is very hard because providing a work permit is very expensive. I hold 2 degrees: 1. International Business 2. Management with a load of work experiences. If anyone can help me out, i will be in your debt and definitely owe you one. Thanks!
