Hi Fern,
Have you managed to resolve any problems that you might have in regard to getting the rental income transfered to you in Canada yet? This might be a real headache for you due to the strict Central Bank rules governing transfer of funds into and out of Brazil. If you don't have a Brazilian bank account then you're really looking for problems, also there are the tax implications as well. I'd strongly recommend against using just anyone to manage the property if you haven't got solid arrangements in place for the funds, otherwise they could simply disappear and you'd be hard pressed to do much about it.
You'd probably be better off to try and contact a reputable realtor in Fortaleza, most of them are experienced in administration of rental properties.
