Places to visit in Accra

Hi,

For the ones living in Accra, what would you suggest to discover the region?

When you have friends or family visiting you, where do you go with them? What are the must-see places in Accra, the tourist sites?

How to visit the region in an original way? Any unusual or unknown place to recommend?

What would you suggest for a couple of days of for a week of holidays in Accra?

Thank you in advance for participating ;)

Julie

In Accra itself there is Labadi Beach which is very popular with Ghanaians. The re coastline itself is very rocky but there are one or two small beaches accessible from various hotels.
There is Kwame Nkrumah's memorial and museum which is interesting to anyone who knows about African History. Close by is the Arts Centre where there are a variety of African handicrafts.
Within driving distance of Accra is Cape Coast where there is Cape Coast Castle which is associated with the slave trade and there is also Kakum National Park where there is a rope walk giving views of the rainforest.
You can also drive to Akasombo to see the hydroelectric dam and also sail on Volta L
