Places to visit in Cape Town

Hi,

For the ones living in Cape Town, what would you suggest to discover the region?

When you have friends or family visiting you, where do you go with them? What are the must-see places in Cape Town, the tourist sites?

How to visit the region in an original way? Any unusual or unknown place to recommend?

What would you suggest for a couple of days of for a week of holidays in Cape Town?

Thank you in advance for participating ;)

Julie

Cape Town has major tourist attractions - stunning world class beaches and beach restaurants around Camps Bay and Clifton. Vibrant night life in the city centre (stick to crowded tourist areas) and the world famous V&A Waterfront (very safe). It has the cable car to the top of Table Mountain (and you could walk up or down too with the help of a local) and at the foot of Table Mountain is the world famous Kirstenbosch botanical gardens. The tip of CT is Cape Point and again a world renown tourist destination as the southern most tip of Africa (actually it's Cape Agulhas) but this is where the two oceans meet. Also the Wine Route through Stellenbosch and Franshchoek (French Corner) will blow you away - quaint, historical, picturesque and very popular with Europeans. Some amazing markets in the City Centre or at Simonstown, a naval suburb near Cape Point. You will be blown away and don't worry about crime stories. Talk to locals and be logical about staying in tourist type areas. If you want a township experience do it with a well known tour operator - no different to Mexico or Brazil..
Eating out is ridiculously cheap.

Enjoy...
