Hi Everyone,

I am  waiting for my visa to come, so that I can be in Tripoli. I have gathered some information (obviously with the help of Expat.com and all of you). Voltage range in Libya is 220-240 V, 50 Hz as in UK and India. For laptop and phone charger it will work just fine.

Check these links for power outlets and for phones etc.

Both types (CDMA & GSM) of phones will work fine in Libya.

Do share your information and views.

Regards,

Kapil

Difference in Libya is the plug/socket - it's Euro round 2 pin type

The two main mobile carriers are Al Madar and Libyana.  I only have a gsm phone so I can't verify CDMA support.  In Tripoli, I've found coverage to be quite good.  Al Madar supports edge data and libyana has 3g.  I mostly use skype for international calls.

There are no CDMA mobile phone services in Libya. CDMA is available though as a wireless phone service for homes where there are no landlines available.

This service also has a rudimentary internet connection built-in, works at about dialup speed.
