Heyyyy....
So it was suggested that I introduce myself and my blog here...

I'm Carrie - originally from Pennsylvania and now living in Belize. I started out in San Pedro, then moved to the mainland in the Stann Creek District.

Here's my blog.... please follow :)

Letters to My Friends

Also - if any experienced bloggers would be willing to give me some pointers, I'd be so ridiculously grateful for your help.

(And THANK YOU to Rebecca for recommending this site to me)

I like your blog!

I am a blogger, but it's just something I do for fun and to share with friends and family (and to remember stuff we do myself!) so I am not sure if I have any tips for you.  There are so many Belize blogs out there, and all have a slightly different slant or take on things, different styles, and different target audiences.  Some are commercial, some are not (mine is the latter).

If you have any specific questions, just ask.  I don't consider myself any sort of "professional", though, and your blog already looks great to me -- love the design of it and even your font!

One small thing -- you need to correct the spelling of AMBERGRIS Caye in your left column.  :D  Especially since you lived there...

Cheers and good luck!
Emily

I cant believe I have that misspelled, thanks for pointing it out.
I have to check out yours!
Thanks for sayin hi :)

Wealthships

Hi Carrie!  I'm a blogger too.  Started my Wealth Ships' blog almost immediately upon moving here to Belize in October of 2010.  I too used to live on Ambergris Caye, but I'm now in Cayo.

My advice is to try to blog as often as possible (I do 5-6 days a week), as you will get more traffic that way and keep more loyal readers. If they don't see you often enough, they lose interest and move on.

I basically blog about my daily life - what happens to me.  I don't go out seeking new restaurants or attend events just so I can blog about it (I'm far too busy for that, since I run a property management company in Belize as well).  But if I happen to eat or go somewhere, then I blog about it.  It works out good for me and takes the pressure off of having to come up with new and entertaining information every day.  But I do like to read the blogs of others who do that (like SanPedroScoop - she's great!).

I also use my blog to advertise my two companies: Wealth Ships' Expat Relocation Consulting and Red Roof Property Management. I try not to be overbearing with it, and I think my readers actually enjoy reading about my companies, so it all works out.

Sometimes I think people will get tired of reading about me doing my laundry or eating at the same restaurant for the 5th time, but they keep coming back. I think lots of folks live vicariously through we bloggers.

Your blog looks natural and fun, and I felt an instant connection to you. I think you're doing great! Good luck and nice to meet you.  Sharon Hiebing

Hi Sharon!
I actually know your blog, I think we emailed once when I was inquiring about house sitting jobs :)

And I think you're right - I like reading about people's daily life and how they live in another country, sometimes I like it better than reading a recommendation of a place I know I'll most likely never go to.

Thanks for your advice, maybe we'll run into each other one day :)

Wealthships

Sorry for not remembering you, Carrie - I speak to so many people every day.  Yes, that would be nice to run into each other one day! We were just in your neck of the woods visiting Hopkins last month. Had a blast. Take care, Sharon

I really enjoyed reading bebelize and letters to my friends!  Bothe very interesting.  I am just getting my blog started ( vagabigbeys.com and vagabigbeys.blogspot.com )My husband and I starting out on our Grand Adventure 12/18/2012!  We plan to stay on Caulker Caye for a year then go somewhere (Cuba?) for a year and so on! What a great way to retire! I sure hope I can learn and write as well as y'all to convay all we experience

Fishbones

That sounds AWESOME, good for you! A year in Caye Caulker would be lovely - it's one of my favorite places here in Belize.

I'll be sure to check into your blog to see when you make the move!
Good luck!! Happy traveling!
Carrie
