Canadian looking to give notice

I am a Canadian citizen and my boyfriend is from the UK. I’ll be visiting him in February, and would like to give notice of marriage at the same time.

we don’t plan on getting married until later in October. Do I still need to apply for a visa to give notice?

I think you'll need a visa. You can work it out by following the appropriate links on the UK Gov website; this link will take you straight to one I've started based on you telling us you are a Canadian citizen.
