Long term house rental.

Anyone knows how the laws work?

I paid 20,000 US for 5 years. OK deal.

Then the roof started leaking.

The landlady tells me I have to pay.

So, if the house the blown away by a tornado, I as a lodger have to pay?

How stupid is this?

Does anyone know any laws regulating this?

Your contract is essentially the law.

You'll need a total legal evaluation of it to see who's responsible.

Also, you might have made improvements or additions that could be shown to be part of the cause of the roof failure

@torematinfeness Hey, I feel sorry about your situation now. Does your contract has term about responsibitily of landlord?

Hi Hannah,

Good question, of course 😉

I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for always being a responsible member of the forum (never spamming) with many well-written apartment advertisements dating back to 2021.

I see that your last posted ad was in 2022.

Please consider updating your currently available rental listings, because then a general search of the listings will have your ads appearing high in the results.

Cheers!
