Medical For Family

My friend recently arrived in KSA and is in the process of bringing his family. During a medical examination in their home country, hepatitis C antibodies were detected in his wife. Subsequent advanced tests confirmed the presence of antibodies only, indicating that the virus is not active. This was verified by medical professionals in their home country.

Could you please advise if, upon her arrival in KSA, undergoing a medical test might pose any issues regarding obtaining an iqama? Your guidance on this matter would be greatly appreciated

Standard test is antibody. They are not checking for current disease but proof of whether you have had it in the past.  This holds true of any disease e.g. TB, Hep B, HIV etc.  Holds true all across GCC.  The only country that doesn't test for Hep C is UAE.

In majority of the cases, you won't get Iqama. However, in Saudi, especially for a dependent visa, it all comes down to how much your company supports you by using their influence. A lot of things are possible here even if the standard process doesn't allow for it.    And this is the answer I have given before on multiple threads.

Please check below forum. Many people confirmed that they did not faced any issue fr Iqama (spouse/dependent)  while tested +ive for Heo B or Hep C antibody only.

Dear Brother,

My wife has the same problem but her hepC appeared when we did medical test for iqama here in Riyadh and the clinic re-done the test thrice i was afraid thinking they might not issue the Iqama due to this reason but one of the nurse at the clinic told me there are many similar cases and the Iqama is issued since she is a dependent and not a worker and than I submitted the same reprt showing HepC postive and Iqama was issued without any problem therefore I think it wont be a problem for you as well.

Later on just to be on save side I have done the PCR  for my wife which showed no virus detected."

Hi,

I have completed my medicals here in Saudi and got my iqama last week. Again, I have spoken to a Saudi doctor here in Dammam, and he basically said the following:

for non-employment visas, positive hep c and hep b results should not cause visa cancellation as long as the virus has been treated and is non-reactive. If the virus has been treated, the antibody test will still show positive, but further tests (like PCR and RNA) will be negative. I am not sure if they do these tests during medicals in Saudi, but in any case they will run a general blood test which will show elevated liver enzymes levels if the virus is still active. I would therefore strongly suggest that your wife gets the treatment in her home country before applying for a Saudi visa - it will take a while, I had to go through almost a year of injections and pills, but it's absolutely worth it.

Please keep in mind that the above only applies for family visas - any work visa will most likely be cancelled if hep b or c is positive. I assume this is because one comes into contact with more people at a working environment, and therefore poses a greater threat for spreading the virus, especially if working in a medical/ food industry."

Correct.  I have been commenting only for work visas.   The problem with people is that they don't scroll back in the thread and see the stuff that has already been answered.

Good job on reproducing it but I suspect that in another month, people will be asking the same question over and over again :).

Hello you have to answer everything, if you have knowledge. Dont be lazy.        -@Safwanshan

1) Don't be rude

2) Look at my profile - I have made more than 11.5K posts.   Doing that with a full time job is by no means lazy

3)  And "I don't have to answer everything".  I don't owe anyone anything..........I do my best to help but that is dependent on my time and real world commitments

4) I clarified the family visa thing earlier on many many many other threads - don't be lazy and browse the forum.  Now people are asking only about work visas, hence the response
