In Paphos at the moment looking for property as moving out here permanently. Seen a nice villa in Chloraka - can anyone provide a view about whether this village/area is a good one. Many thanks. Tony.

Avoid like the plague!  Police roadblocks frequently in the evenings.  A friend just managed to sell his property at rock bottom price.  Chlorakas has become almost a no-go area over the last year or so due to the huge influx of illegal immigrants.  Women have been assaulted and there are frequent fights.  Reports of police raids on a daily basis in the Tala newsletter.

Not somewhere i would like to live. Just driving through give an impression of being a bit down trodden. Many more villages around to scout.

Its not as bad as being made out here ...there are certain areas like many other places that are impacted upon by immigration.... As for Chlorakas it is in very specific and limited areas Not all of it ... As seems to be indicated here

I can thoroughly recommend Argaka . We moved here in November last year and it’s perfect. More relaxed way of life here , Lovely beaches. Mountain View’s and some great restaurants , Santa Barbara, Irish pub/ restaurant Fly again . Polis is close by and of course Latchi Marina. Only negative is it’s a bit of a drive to Paphos airport 50 mins but it’s worth it ! Good luck in finding your new home 😊

Hi We live in Chloraka, near the town centre.

I have never seen a road block or heard of women assaulted.  Cyprus has a low crime level

The bars in the centre are good too.

There are migrants here but they are well behaved.

@selhis4 exactly as I said there is a specific area where there has been media and police attention and is not Chloraka wide ...... Its not even close to being a no go area .....

We are looking to buy a holiday home, and have decided on Paphos area. Max 30 mins or so from the airport.  Arriving 17 November for 2 weeks. We drove round a few villages in September, but never seemed to find the centres with tavernas, pubs and shops, except for Julie's bar in Kissonerga. We would like to be in walking or cycling distance of the coast, not too far up a hill, (not getting any younger) but with good views.

Does anybody have any suggestions please.

Also I believe there is a walking group in Paphos, we would like to get in touch and see if we can join them

Thanks
