In-Person English Tutor (Kindergarten-6th grade)

Job Description

A tutoring company is seeking an exceptional English tutor to work in-person in Shenzhen, China with two American students between Kindergarten and 6th grade. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced educator who is passionate about literacy, language development, and personalized instruction.

The ideal candidate has experience teaching elementary-aged students, is familiar with American curricula, and is able to create engaging, individualized lessons that build reading, writing, speaking and comprehension skills.

Responsibilities

1. Provide one-on-one English instruction to two American students (between Kindergarten and 6th grade)
2. Develop engaging lessons that strengthen reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, speaking, and comprehension skills
3. Tailor instruction to each student's learning style, strengths, and academic goals
4. Reinforce classroom learning while helping students build confidence and a love of reading and writing
5. Monitor student progress and adjust instruction as needed
6. Communicate regularly with parents and staff regarding student progress

Position Requirements

1. Bachelor's degree required (Education, English, Elementary Education, or a related field preferred)
2. Minimum of 2 years of teaching an/or tutoring experience with elementary-aged students
3. Experience teaching English Language Arts to young learners
4. Familiarity with U.S. elementary school curriculum
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
6. Organized, dependable, and professional
7. Ability to create engaging, student-centered lessons that foster academic growth
