Drivers License Renewal 2022-23

Seeking the DL renewal at ANT.

When I arrived at 'sucursal de ANT' El Recreo

two days ago, September 21st, the four

documents the agent wanted to see were...

  -- my expired drivers license

  -- my current Ecuadorian cédula/ID

  -- the results of my exam taken at a

         driving school, which had included

         a hearing test, an eye examination

          and some hand-eye coordination

            and skills tests

  -- confirmation of the renewal

      appointment, which I had

          copied off the Internet

Waiting time was just shy of one hour.

Then I entered the computer screens room

where I clicked on answers to each of the 20

questions contained in one of the myriad

versions of the 'examen teórico'.

Upon completion and submission of my

answers, the screen immediately showed

that I had not passed 'el teórico';  'no fue

aprobado', it said.

I had answered correctly 15 of the

20 questions.  To obtain the license

renewal, 16 correct responses were

required.

The agent promptly sent me to the far

side of the ANT offices to 'el gerente',

the manager.  He said I could come in

at 4:15 the next day .. and retake the exam.
