Receiving Income from the Netherlands while on a Colombian V-type visa

YoungMan101

Hi! Does anybody have any experience with working remotely while living in Colombia 183+ days per year? I've been living in Colombia for 1+years now, working for a Colombian company on a V-type visa. To supplement my income, I'm also working for two Dutch companies and receiving the income on a bank account in the Netherlands.

Recently I decided to deregister from the Netherlands because according to the 183 day rule, I'm a fiscal resident of Colombia. However, with my current visa I can't legally receive the income in Colombia (it's a V-type trabajador visa). This is what a Colombian lawyer told me. A Dutch tax consultant told me I can't receive the income in the Netherlands because I'm not a resident there. Changing my visa in Colombia to an M-type business owner is not really workable, so I don't really know what the best way to resolve this is.

Any advice is very much appreciated! Especially if you've had a similar experience with receiving international income while living in Colombia on such a visa.

You can receive income in the Netherlands as a non-resident, but you must file a non-resident tax return (C-form) if you have income from Dutch sources. Register as a non-resident (RNI) in the Personal Records Database (BRP) to manage tax obligations. If you have no Dutch income, you likely do not need to file there.
