Living legally in Brazil after getting Uniao Estavel

I'll pass on the União Estável info because that is 12 years behind me.

I do have health insurance through Unimed and it is a national policy and I did have to get something given continuation requirements. It is what my partner had and we've stayed with it. It is good/bad depending on location from what I hear and in the northeast it have been a pretty good provider.

You may get a stable union at the notary. Our married us (with witnesses you bring) and recorded the same. As to 1 year do not wait, he needs to apply based on marriage as soon as you get the Uniao Estavel and he has all documents required to obtain a CRNM. That takes time. It took over 6 months for us and many trips to the PF office. No waiting if you and the have the majority in hand (remember Offical translated and apostilled/or legalized.)
Once he receives a "protocol' from the PF, be sure to stay on the PF's schedule on the protocol.


2. No way he is going to be able to have a bank account or you adding his name to yours until he receives his CRNM.
I would have him get a BR cell phone using your address as his billing address. (He needs a "utility bill" as part of the vias process.

3. It is wise ( if possible) to obtain health ins. Now he again will have to have travel health ins until he gets a CRNM. (Check your area for companies) There are different companies in different areas)

The best advice is to use BR Consulate in Belgium to see all documents required and you or he (if able to read Portuguese) can use the PF site.
I would not rely on sites before 2017 because the immigration laws changed and I would get the advice the the "horse's mouth" (PF/Consulate).
