I lost my RNE card

Renslet

Hi, I'm a US citizen married to a Brazilian, i have lived her for four years and have two Brazilian children. I have a flight together with my husband and kids tomorrow night but i can't find my RNE card anywhere. I also can't find my old passport with the original visa in it. I do have photos of the card and the visa.
My lawyer told me to file a lost card claim at the polícia federal and if we explain what happened, they should let us through at the airport.
Does anyone have experience with this?
Any ideas of what I could do? I have turned my house upside down, I can't find it anywhere.

The Federal Police (Polícia Federal) is responsible for issuing new or replacement CIE cards. I am not certain about the PF at the airport. Since coming from the US you may enter via waiver program and then go to the nearest PF office

Local Federal Police offices can be found via the Ministry of Justice website.

Lost visa will require contacting your BR Consulate in your area.

You can start your request on this site, but you'll have to be in Brazil to pick it up at the Polícia Federal, or have someone do it for you who has a Procuração (Power of Attorney):
