John C.

I wonder what visas Brazil will forfeit for visitors.

For Canadians and Americans the Brazilian government usually issues a VITUR-TE Tourist Visa (temporary special) for major events. In most cases it has the same requirements as the normal VITUR Tourist Visa, but it is only a "one-time-only" temporary visa. Once you depart from Brazil following the event it is no longer valid.

This Brazil visa is intended for spectators and visitors intending to attend the World Cup matches. The requirements for going to Brazil are largely the same. You will need:

Requirements
- Your ticket or proof of purchase for the FIFA World Cup 2014 games
- A complete application
- Two blank pages to your (VALID) passport
- One passport photo
- Proof of your address (copy of your driver’s license or utility bill)
- If you are a US Permanent Resident, but not a citizen of the USA then you will need also to produce your Green Card.

Note that any passport must be valid for at least 6 months following your scheduled date of departure from Brazil or it will not be accepted.

I am not certain if this visa is being issued to visitors from other nations that require a visa to enter Brazil so check with the Consulado-Geral do Brasil in your home country.

If you are using a Schengen Area Passport or passport from one of the Visa Waiver Program countries then you need only your passport to enter Brazil and stay for 3 months in any 6 month period.

Hello James,  :)
Thank you for the info which I hope will also be useful for people with the same request in mind.

It's too complicated a process to come to Brazil like I thought.
Just to mention, the closest Brazilian Embassy to me is in nearby Barbados.

You probably can utilize a visa service that will do the leg work for you, unless you are looking for an excuse to go to Barbados.

Hi Matt,
1). We do not have such services (and many other services) up here in the island.  :nothappy:

2). I'll stay at home and watch only the semi-finals and finals.
I say Brazil will win.
