Taxes: Trying to file declaração de saída

UhOhDetran

Hey guys, until 2025 I lived in Brazil, but I moved away to Canada in January 2025. I'm trying to file the "declaração de saída" since I won't be a tax resident of Brazil. So, I'm trying to use the IRPF program to do so. However, I *already* used the program to file my 2024 taxes.

Now, when I try to file the "declaração de saída" using the same program, it seems to want to know the tax information again, as if I were filing again. But I already paid those taxes. So, I'm wondering if there's any way to use this program to file the "declaração de saída" after I've already filed the 2024 taxes using it.

I figure this must be an option since some people will not have known that they were leaving the country at the time of filing the 2024 taxes. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Edit: okay, I figured it out. I have to file the communicação first, then the declaração with the IPRF 2026 when it comes out. Sorry folks for taking up the space.

10/07/25 @UhOhDetran.  It's an important question, and not one that comes up very often. The way you've figured out sounds logical; please let us know how it works out for you.  Since you have the time, you might want to bounce it off the Receita Federal for some guidance to confirm that you're on the right track.  Best of luck.
