Registering at Policia Federal on DN Visa

sovelong

I just arrived in Brazil with a Digital Nomad visa - yay! The approval note from the consulate says that I need to register my visa via presenting my original visa application form at the Policia Federal within 90 days of my arrival to Brazil.

Do I need to schedule an appointment or anything for this? From what it says on the note, it sounds like I just go to the Policia Federal with my visa application form? I just want to make sure I have everything and save myself multiple trips to the Policia Federal.

Thanks!

The Policia Federal requires a protocol number, for what I see.

So, I would guess, unless you have some printed form of any sort, you need to walk there to get it.

They have on the booking appointment page, the option to switch to English

05/11/23 @sovelong.   Congratulations on your visa and your arrival!

I second @sprealestatebroker's suggestion.  Take all of your documents from the Consulate to the Estrangeiros office at the Polícia Federal, tell the the person at Reception that you have a Digital Nomad visa and need to know how to register and receive your CRNM.  Then follow the instructions you receive.

Hi Sovelong,

I recently had to do something similar to apply for a CRNM here.

Do you already have a document with a requirement number? You will need it to book an appointment with the Federal Police.

I am not familiar with the DN Visa process, but I found some info in this document. Section 4 has a link to this page, where you can find "Registro de imigrante detentor de visto temporário", which seems to be the form to start the process and obtain the requirement number.

It's probably best to find your nearest Federal Police and call them to confirm.

Thanks for the responses! @martinsan I had read that and was also reading over this: https://www-gov-br.translate.goog/pt-br … _pto=wapp# .

My confusion was from my visa approval letter - and also the link you provided - it sounds I just go to the Policia Federal with my visa approval form. But in the register as a foreigner link above, the steps to carry out the service including filling out some more online forms, paying a fee, scheduling an apt., etc... If possible, I suppose I'll just try to call/email for clarification.

From my experience in Rio de Janeiro, I needed to book an appointment to register with the Federal Police.  Be sure to take your proof of appointment with the protocol, the proof of payment for the GRU for for the CRNM card and other documents you sent to the consulate.  I waited about 45-60 minutes after my appointment time, but then the rest of the process took about 30 minutes (photographs, fingerprinting, etc for 20 mins, then another 10 minutes waiting outside for them to bring me my passport and protocol).

Hi

What other documents that was already sent to the consulate is required for the registration process?

I thought all that is required to register is the appointment, visa form from the consulate and GRU payment receipt

Could you please share your experience in this regard

Thank you

@dyantyi28 I took every document that I sent to the consulate, even those I had uploaded copies to MigranteWeb, and also made a copy of the passport page with the entry stamp that corresponded to the visa.  It included original birth certificate, criminal history, passport photo page copy, employer letter, paycheck copies, attestation letter, etc.  This was the advice I received in another thread on this site.

If by chance they require any signatures or copies be authenticated, just bring the original and copy to a Cartorio for the authentication.   I did not have any issues in this regard with the Policia Federal, but this issue did come up for me with Detran.
