Shipping Amazon Prime USA/BRL

ExpatUSATravels

Hey people.

Just wondering, if the remainder of USA Amazon Prime can be used in Brasil.

Only concerned with "shipping."

Example ship from Amazon Brasil to Brasil only, using already paid for prime membership from USA?

Or must the person buy a prime membership in brasil?

Asking due to faster/free shipping with prime.

Thanks!

04/19/23 @ExpatUSATravels. No, they're two different Prime memberships. You can easily join, but you'll need a different email from the one associated with your US account.  One strange twist: you can use a US credit card to pay for merchandise on Amazon BR, but (unless they've fixed it since I joined) not for your Prime membership.

Kindle has the same split.

Over the past several years Amazon BR has greatly expanded the number of items with free Prime shipping, so it can be worthwhile, especially if your local retail options are limited.

@abthree

i think they may have changed it.

we signed into the BR site using our USA account and usa email.

but not sure if can order prime shipping. Will have to try i guess.

@abthree ok will do.

I've been able to enter both sites with the same email and password.  BUT, they are separate sites. And as abthree stated, definitely cannot use Amazon Prime here here from USA. And Vice Versa.  My daughter in USA uses that one a lot so we kept the Prime for deliveries there and I bought a Prime member ship here in Brazil also.  Relatively inexpensive...

I learned from previous errors that I never want to try to have anything shipped here in Brazil from Amazon USA or other sites.  Too many issues with customs, things being lost or stolen, etc.  And abthree is correct, you cannot use a US Credit card to get the Brazil Prime membership!  Found that out after many failed attempt, lol...   When I finally got my Brazil Credit Card, no more problem!

Best wishes on all your Brazil travels and experiences!

04/19/23. @MA22. I did the experiment -- US account ID and Password -- and my experience tracked yours.

  • the system let me in, was showing me Amazon BR's inventory, and I guess would let me buy there;
  • it showed Free Shipping above a certain order amount;
  • it didn't show either my US or BR Prime membership, or Prime offers;
  • it didn't show me either my Amazon BR or my Amazon US prior purchases;
  • it would let me view Prime Video, but shifted me over to Prime Video US to do that.

@ExpatUSATravels After much trial and error my experience has been to stay with Amazon.com (USA). There is a price difference due to customs, but my Amazon.com.Br orders are lost and no longer appear on their website. Yes, they are separate.

Basically I would rather pay extra to get them then pay less to lose them.

That doesn't mean that Amazon.com does not operate as well as i remember them from before. I am literally looking out the window for the arrival of a Gaming Chair that I purchased originally in Amazon.com Br. that has disappeared that I bought again with Amazon.com USA that is coming today (fingers crossed) from DHL. The Amazon.com website had them as held at customs and latelr cancelled. Whenever I called Amazon they blamed DHL, but their website would always say something different than the agents story. Finally I spoke (in English) to DHL Brazil and was promised it would be here today before 7pm.

My advice would be to bring it with you from America or frequent the shopping malls in the larger cities.

Another benefit I have from living in a small village in Northern Brazil is that when I buy furniture etc. from a local Parazinho shop, not only do they deliver it to me, but also …wait for it....Take Out the Instructions and Set It Up for me.1f603.svg

I have always had luck shopping direct from store websites here in brazil. its a hard market for outsiders to impose in brazil in these aspects. logistics are actually insane in this country in terms of complexity, however - when your shopping local. they usually have it out to you in a few days, delivery guys will call to confirm neighborhood / barros etc.

As far as online sites goes, I still use aliexpress, not a fair system to new shoppers, however I have learned to sift out the vendors on there for legitimacy,

Even UPS has issues with the northeast, Anytime I have something i have to report to the central office to pickup my package because logistic issues lol

Something I have been accustomed to since the shift here :D
