Getting a job here is not easy but it's not impossible.

I would check the wokikik website regularly and start applying for jobs while you are still in Australia:  http://www.wokikik.com/

You can also register yourselves with Consulting Vanuatu, their link is on the Wokikik page.  They can then email you when suitable jobs are advertised.

I would also recommend you contact the Port Vila International School for teaching opportunities, you may be able to line something up there

My name is Randy from Oklahoma City USA and my family is moving to Port Vila in January. I bought some investment property on Efate and subsequently developed a relationship with the developer and now work for them. We have a Papaya project on Melakula and are active in real estate development on Efate. The long and short is that for me,  local people took care of all the work and residency issues that one must deal with. Typically a company must show they have tried to fill a position locally but the job requires skills or education that can't be found locally.
