How difficult is it to get a job in UAE. Can someone put me in touch with recruitment agency that can help a South African?
It will be much appreciated. I'm in the travel game - would prefer to find something in travel, but am not too fussy at this stage.
Thanks

aussie99 wrote:Hi, I'm Steph, I'm 24...I've travelled a lot in life, but never to the UAE. I've just been offered something of a dream job in Dubai, in Jumeirah at one of the prestigious international schools teaching music, which is my background.
I haven't arrived yet, I touch down in the next week or two, and am most worried about meeting new people and making new friends. I'd love to join in any and all expat meet-ups and discussions.
Cheers,
Steph
I my self looking for that. I'm not in the position to want girlfriend or so but all I want for now is good friends who want to share some fun and respectable conversations
clarebugden wrote:Hi everybody,
My name is Clare. I have been in Dubai for just over 2 months.
I am from South Africa and I am in the travel industry here!
The common thread that I read from everybody is that it is hard to make friends. I feel the same, especially being single.
I have only concluded that it is because everything is so transitinal in Dubai. So friendships tend to be of that value. But as I guess for people like us who like deeper relationships with one another we battle to get some depth.
I hope to join you all some time!
I have the Entertainer with millions of coupons for Dubai (ALL Need to be USED by the end of the year)
If anybody needs or wants to use some, please let me know.
I will gladly give them away.
Clare

Hello cagedbutterfly,

How you finding it here?
Good to hear from you
Also most uae sites tend to list us as England rather than united kingdom which I find a bit weird
Anyways take care for now xx

Having lived in Dubai for over 32 years now, it's the first time I'm actually treating myself into a 'BLOG' or 'EXPAT NETWORK'..
My name is Saud Ahmed, am a 32 year old Pakistani whose been here all my life, and have seen this place grow and grow into something completely different. I still remember when I was a kid, whenever my Dad took me out I could literally see the Trade Centre 50 km's away, plus when we would pass by, it would be an honour to count off all the floors quickly to get myself treated by my parents.
Here I am, This is me, and there's no where else on earth I'd rather be ! Time to make new friends..
I am sachin very much new here in dubai and moved here from houston...
hope to meet some nice people here and ave great time together
Cheers

Cheers for now,

I'm happy there's such a great community here that arranges meet-ups and actually helps you find friends out here.
I'm 31, from Tehran and I have started working here from November, and it has not been much to it other than working, since!. so I'll be glad to meet and make friends with people here and do different activities with. I'm a beginner Tennis player, into psychology, love dancing (done some salsa and ballroom as a beginner), and into movies, music and books just as anyone might be
i hope i can meet you guys very soon
I arrived in Dubai last week from the UK and so far I love it. I grew up here but it's changed beyond all recognition and the only place I recognise (I think) is the fantastic shop in Satwa with the clay oven selling chipattis. Although they have gone up to 1 Dh now lol!
I would love to meet other expat ladies for coffee/chat/going out but, most importantly, laughs and good times. Please feel free to message me and we can arrange something.
Look forward to hearing from you,
Nicky.
PS Sorry but I'm not interested in meeting men!!
Arrived in Dubai few months back...but recently found out about this forum (ya, few minutes back and I am on).I live in Dubai and have various interests depending on day and time and how rest of the world is behaving.
