hey so ill be moving by the 12th. i have a 2008 GMC which i want to bring with me from saudi. can i drive down there and then have the number plates changed? If i have it transported there, is there some kind of rules about cars over 5 years old? does 2008 count has 5 years or 6 years?

UPDATE: i was able to bring my car in. the process is tricky  but thanks to my new best friends in RTA (Roads and Traffic Authority) it is going to be super smooth!

Anyone else wants to bring their car over to Dubai from saudi or anywhere. please contact me for any questions! i feel like an expert at this now!

Hi Borntobemild

Would you please advise/share your experience in taking your car from Saudi to UAE? Do you have to deregister it?

I am currently in Kuwait but will take up a position in UAE soon and would like to take my car with me.
