Practical questions before a long stay on the Turquoise Coast

Planning an extended stay on the Turquoise Coast (based between Kas and Fethiye) and trying to sort out the practical side before going. A few things I'd love advice on:

1. Residency paperwork - is the online appointment system still the right route, or has anything changed recently for first-time applicants?
