GCC Car Insurance

rajoo33

Hey There,

I have comprehensive car insurance in KSA with GCC Car Insurance coverage. I was reading some blogs on if you enter OMAN and UAE by Car they must buy Third-Party Car insurance at the border to gain entry.  Can someone share their experience, and if I have GCC Car insurance coverage can I deny the Third-Party in Oman and UAE for a week's visit? More information is better.

Best, Rajoo

No you cannot deny the third party.  Your GCC cover is ONLY for own damage outside of KSA (in KSA it is own damage and third party).   Third party liability in the GCC is covered by the respective country insurance providers by the applicable laws.

Hi there, I have my car with Saudi plate number in Dubai. I am struggling to find a car insurance company for my car now. Previously insured with Al Alamiya (RSA) but now this company changed to Liva and contacts I had there are no longer working in the company.

Is anyone able to help me, do you have similar scenario to help with insurance that will insure the car in Dubai with Saudi registration plate?

XTang

No UAE company will cover Saudi plates.  If you have contacts then they can do insurance on basis of a reinsurance deal with a Saudi provider - but this is something they will never do for a normal retail customer.  Why don't you get insurance in Saudi?

Hi All and XTang

I am a british national visiting Saudi Arabia for 3 months  my parents live here. I want to be insured to drive my dads car but the insurance company does not insure anyone not having a Saudi Iqama or a Saudi Driving License.

Which is stange as people who cross the border by car are able to buy an insurance can you guide me as the regulation is not clear and none of the authorities are helpful

This is the same in every GCC country.  By law, visitors are insured through agreements on car rentals only.  You cannot drive another person's car.  I mean, you can and in most cases, police won't penalize you (maybe just fine the owner at most)  if there is accident but insurance won't cover the damage.

Thanks for the feedback, helps alot

However, people who drive down from Dubai to Saudi are able to buy insurance at the border?

XTang

Different topics altogether.  Person coming from Dubai is driving a UAE number plate which is already insured in the UAE.  All they buy is third party insurance at the border.
