Difference between Villa and Villa compound

Please can someone help me understand difference between villa and villa compound? I am thinking of renting villa compound is there any down side, and any particular things i need to be aware of?

Villa is probably meant as standalone, which means no facilities - gym/pool/local stores or maintenance of villa etc.

Compound Villa can be considered as a community of buildings mixture of apts and villas within a complex surrounded by a wall and requires permission to enter usually guarded by security personnel. You will have your parking spot(s), access to all the facilities withing the enclosure - a gym/pool etc.
